Volunteering
Volunteering as a Vollie at Mill Valley Ranch isn’t just about filling a role.
It’s an opportunity to grow.
Volunteers play a crucial role in the ministry of Baptist Camping Victoria. There are numerous opportunities for you to serve across the organisation; from Hospitality, site maintenance, camp ministry through word, music, and team leading. BCV operates ministry camps in two key locations: Tynong North- Mill Valley Ranch and Anglesea- Camp Wilkin and Burnside Camp.
Our volunteering opportunity exists through the Vollies Leadership Growth Pathway at Mill Valley Ranch (MVR)
Our Leadership Growth Pathway gives volunteers opportunities to progressively develop their skills, character and leadership; moving from learning the basics of serving on camp towards taking greater responsibility and helping lead others.
Along the way, volunteers can access training, mentoring and practical opportunities to develop skills in areas such as leadership, ministry, activities, safety and working with young people.
Come to serve. Stay to grow. Leave equipped to lead.
Why volunteer at Mill Valley Ranch?
Be part of something bigger. Every year, hundreds of young people come to Mill Valley Ranch for Roundups. As a volunteer, you get to be part of creating an experience they will remember for the rest of their lives.
- Invest in young people: build relationships, encourage ranchers and help create a safe place for them to meet or grow in their relationship with Jesus
- Serve Jesus: use your gifts and your life to point people towards Christ and be part of the gospel ministry happening at MVR.
- Do something meaningful: swap your normal routine for a week of adventure, challenge, laughter and serving others.
- Find your people: become part of a community of volunteers (vollies) who work, serve, pray, grow, and have fun together.
- Grow as a leader: take on responsibility, learn new skills and progress through our Leadership Growth Pathway.
What can I do as a volunteer?
There isn’t one type of MVR volunteer. We need people with different gifts, personalities and skills.
You could:
- Lead camp activities: horses, archery, canoeing, crate climb, low ropes, raft building and more.
- Be a cabin leader: spend the week building relationships with ranchers and showing them the love of Jesus.
- Help with ministry: small groups, Bible discussions, worship, daily chapel and other opportunities to help campers engage with the Christian message of hope in Jesus
- Serve behind the scenes: catering, cleaning, set-up, maintenance and practical support.
- Use your skills: bring your experience in areas like trades, music, first aid, outdoor activities, administration or leadership.
- Horse team: if horses are your thing, jump on the horse team to deliver amazing horse lessons and trail rides
- Higher leadership: If you want more responsibility and to grow in your leadership we have a pathway to stretch you into assisting the running and planning and coordination of camp.
You don’t have to know exactly where you fit. We’ll help you find your place.
